Who Am I

Image

Indian Film Industry : The Great Survivor

Image
Dhoom3 set new benchmark on box office I remember well that my family members shared there apprehension with me sometime back in the year 1994 when GEC channels started inroads in our drawing rooms that it will not  take very long for Indian Film industry to close down. The reason was very simple, when you get all kind of entertainment sitting at home on 24 x 7 basis, who is going to visit dilapidated , crumbled movie theatres where air conditioners do not work, seats are half eaten by rodents. But good news is that our Film Industry survived rough patches, Indian Films are rocking, there is a long list of movies this year like Chennai Express, Krish3, Yeh Jawani Hai Dewani  which have crossed magic number of Rs.100 crore. The latest financial success of Dhoom3 crossing Rs 200 crore mark within a week's time, it has proved that our films are here to stay as a potential means of entertainment in the coming time. How transformation took place ? The transformation took p...

Few Media Trends in 2014

Image
For media 2013 was a very exciting year, both in terms of visibility as well as overall impact. It will not be wrong to say that stories on News Channels were more far reaching and impactful vis a vis the Soaps on General Entertainment Channels. Now  news is updated on sites of news channels and newspapers on 24 x 7 basis ,  the consumption of news on net is increasing. Specially when so many channels are streaming live news through smart mobile apps, people are going to consume news in a very different way. 3G has increased speed of streaming so it is quite obvious that online video consumption will keep everyone in Film and TV industry very busy. All the big-wigs that sneered  at the lack of revenues online will finally seeing enough traction to move in. Star, Zee and T series almost every major media house is giving the scores of random 'content shop', a run for their money. T Series is the number one  channel on YouTube out of India., for three year ...

India Leading to Economic Gulami

Image
I have been in United States on many occasions during last 10 years. I had noticed that whether you visit a Mall or a Papa Mama store, you will hardly find things with tag Made In America. Even the perishable grocery section of Super Bazars is full of fancy fruits and vegetables from around the globe. Most of the manufacturing activities are closed, many closed factories are converted into Retail Outlet Malls. So when every thing is imported from finished goods, consumer durables to perishables, a question comes to mind  how that nation is surviving? It is a fact that American economy is under great strain, some how the economy is limping with the help of propriety products, branded goods manufactured in China and dispatched from there to rest of the world, this includes I Phones, Laptops, other gadgets and devises. Ofcourse, a part of funds comes from exporting wars and war machines ! Compare the Indian situation with that of America to large extend, we are also falling under t...

How to handle Hangover

Image
Year is closing by and this also bring festivities in the full swing . X'mas and New year  means partying hard. Party all the way,  today at  friends place, tomorrow  at home and day after  in a club or restaurant. It is very pertinent to know what will happen following day after heavy doses of alcohol , hangover behave differently with different people. Infrastructure : Key to Urban Living Challenge - A case for Many More Freeways in Bombay

Image
A year back, if somebody had claimed that he has traveled from Chembur to Fort area in 20 minutes time, you would have thought that he is a first rate liar. But today Eastern Freeway has made it possible. In fact 17 km freeway distance from Chembur to Orange Gate in the town-side  can be easily  traveled straight 15 minutes, traveling the same distance through a series of flyovers right from Chembur to Fort would have taken minimum an  hour or so during the busy time of the day. This could have  become a reality due to a realistic planning and futuristic vision shown by the Government for the  first time in city of Bombay, its utility is much much larger then the Sea Link which connects Bandra to Worli, and mind it , it is absolutely Free for the commuters . This Freeway is a boon to daily commuters living right from New Bombay to Chembur, as it  saves minimum one and half hour of their precious time every day  bypassing  the older choked north...
