बुरांश या बुरुंश के वृक्ष से पहला परिचय पिथौरागढ़ पोस्टिंग के दौरान हुआ था . होली की आसपास से यह वृक्ष गहरे लाल लाल फूलों से लदना शुरू हो जाता है , फूल भी इतने कि हरे पत्ते ढक जाते हैं और बुरांश के घने वृक्षों वाले वन को पुष्पित होने के सीजन में देखो तो ऐसा लगता है जैसे जंगल में आग लग  गई हो . उत्तरांचल में महिलायें घर का चूल्हा जलाने के लिए समूह में रोज लकड़ी काटने, बीनने के लिए जंगल जाती हैं तो साथ में अपना लंच भी ले जाती हैं . लेकिन बुरांश के फूल खिलने के मौसम में वे लंच नहीं ले जाती हैं बल्कि बुरांश के फूलों से अपना लंच कर लेती हैं . हम भी ट्रेकिंग पर जाते तो यही करते , फूल का स्वाद अतुलनीय होता है खट्टा मीठा . अब तो पता नहीं लेकिन आठवें दशक में मैंने पिथौरागढ़ में देखा था वहाँ हर घर में बुरांश फूलों का शरबत रहता था , अतिथि को आते ही पानी में घोल कर यह शरबत पेश किया जाता था. मशहूर शरबत रूह आफजा के लाजवाब स्वाद का सीक्रेट भी यही फूल है . कहते हैं यह शरबत दिल की बीमारी से बचने के लिए प्रकृति का सबसे बेहतरीन उपहार है. अस्सी के दशक में मुझे लगता था कि यह फूल पिथौरागढ़ के  इलाक...

दास्तान - ए - सोहन हलवा  अगर मिठाई की बात करें तो मुझे बचपन से लेकर आज तक सोहन हलवा सबसे अच्छा  लगता रहा है .  बचपन की याद है , जैसे ही जाड़े की शुरुआत होती थी बाबूजी या तो चाँदनी चौक  दिल्ली की  घंटेवाले की दुकान से या फिर रामपुर के किसी मशहूर हलवाई से इसे विशेष रूप से मंगवाते थे . उन दिनों यह मिठाई केवल जाड़ों में बनती थी . यह पहली बाइट में कड़क लगती थी लेकिन जल्दी ही मुंह में घुल जाती थी , स्वाद इतना बेमिसाल कि केवल खा कर ही जाना जा सकता है .आज भी  पुरानी दिल्ली , अजमेर और रामपुर में सबसे बढ़िया सोहन हलवा बनता है .  खाने पीने की रेसीपी ने सभ्यता के भिन्न भिन्न पड़ाव में शासकों  और व्यापारियों के लाव-लश्कर के साथ एक क्षेत्र  से दूसरे  और फिर कितने ही क्षेत्रों में यात्रा की है और फिर वे डेलिकेसी स्थानीय बन कर रह गई हैं . यही कहानी हलवे की है , यह शब्द मूलत: अरबी का है लेकिन भारतीय उप महाद्वीप में सोहन हलवे की  रेसिपी ईरान से आई है . आज भी ईरान के कॉम शहर में एक बहुत पुरानी बेकरी सोहन-ए- कॉम है जो अपने तरह तरह के हलवों के लिए मशहूर...

Agrigento City in Sicily is Having Footprint of Legendary Icarus  Agrigento city in Sicily province of Italy is one of the best places to visit.  It is famous for the iconic Valley of Temples.  Here a statue of Greek mythology Character Icarus, crafted in bronze and located in front of the Temple of Concordia. Icarus was son of Daedalus, a famous architect and inventor. Story goes like this : Daedalus, created a unique palace for King Minos. King kept him and his family as his captive in the same palace  so that he may not construct such a beautiful palace for any other King. To escape from palace, Daedalus designed wings made of feathers and wax to escape from Crete in an attempt to fly. He first asked Icarus to fly but warned him not to soar too high .
