Reading Challenge During Locked Down Days Exploring the level of creation:Sylvia Brown Have you ever wondered about life and Creation? Is there life after death? Why do we have to go through these trials and tribulations? Why do we have thoughts and dreams that run from the sublime to those that are nightmarish and bizarre? Why do goodness and evil go hand in hand in life … or do they? New York Times’ best selling author Sylvia Browne has tried to explore into this in her book ‘Exploring The Levels of Creation’. This book was first published in 2008, it is in my book shelf since than. The human mind is a marvellous and wonderful thinking mechanism, but it can not even begin to comprehend the vastness  and scope of creation. The light travels 186000 miles per second and thus we will take four light years to reach the nearest star system like our sun. And the Milky Way has such star systems billions and trillion. Reading Challenge During Locked Down Days  Walking In Zen Sitting In Zen : Osho  This book I picked up from my bookshelf yesterday. Originally compiled in 1980, the book has multiple subsequent additions.  It is a compilation of Osho’s discourses in    Question Answer format.  Osho walks  hand in hand with Yoka's insistence that the man of  Zen  is extraordinary in his ordinariness: he  walks in Zen , he sits in  Zen . In combining Yoka's sutras with personal questions from seekers,  Osho's  responses are uniquely tailored, travelling like razor-sharp arrows to the heart of the questioner. He is one of the real characters of the self-help, human-potential movement. His style is humorous, poignant, and transformational. Reading Challenge : Day Twelve अख़्तर शीरानी और उनकी शायरी - सं. प्रकाश पंडित कई मित्रों ने कल Fooled By Randomness पुस्तक की समीक्षा पढ़ कर मेसेज  किया कि कुछ हल्का फुल्का भी हो जाय तो मैंने अपनी बुक शेल्फ से अख़्तर शीरानी पर प्रकाश पंडित को पुस्तक निकाली तो आज पेश है एक बेहद रोमानी शायर के बारे में . उर्दू शायरी में अख़्तर शीरानी का वही मक़ाम है जो अंग्रेज़ी में Keats और Shelly का रहा है . अख़्तर टोंक रियासत में १९०५ में जन्मे , नाम रखा गया मोहम्मद दाऊद खान. उर्दू की तालीम अपनी चाची जान से मिली फ़ारसी  मौलवी साबिर अली शाकिर से सीखी , शायरी का चस्का उन्ही से  लगा . ९ साल बाद उनके वालिद इंगलैंड से आए तो उन्होंने अख़्तर को पहलवान बनाने  का फ़ैसला किया , रोज़ अखाड़े में उतरने का सिलसिला चल निकला . बाद में अब्बू लाहौर के ओरीएंटल कालेज  में प्रोफ़ेसर बन गए उधर अख़्तर की पढ़ाई भी शुरू हो गयी , पढ़ाई के साथ शायरी करने लगे , जब वह कलाम  पढ़ता  तो लोग दीवाने बन जाते इसी लिए मुंशी फ़ाज़िल से आगे पढ़ाई नहीं हो सकी . अख़्तर की शायरी केवल यौवन के सौंदर्य औ...

शहर कभी बूढ़े नहीं होते मेरे एक मित्र इन दिनों एकांतवास में हैं इसलिए फ़ुरसत ही फ़ुरसत में हैं कल स्काइप पर थे पूछने लगे दुनिया का सबसे पुराना शहर कौन सा है मैंने तत्काल ही जवाब दिया बनारस कहने लगे यार तुम पूरी दुनिया घूमते रहते हो मुझे लगा तुम लन्दन, पेरिस या न्यू यॉर्क का नाम लोगे . देखा अपना वाराणसी ही दुनिया का सबसे पुराना शहर है मैंने सोचा इसका उत्तर उन्हें दे ही दूँ शहर कभी पुराने या बूढ़े नहीं होते शहर हमेशा जवान बने रहते हैं शहर खोजते रहते हैं अपने आप को लगातार क्योंकि इनमें बसती है जन  जीवन की धड़कन इनमें बसती हैं सभ्यता और संस्कृति जो केवल इतिहास का हिस्सा नहीं होती है लोगों की ज़िंदगी का हिस्सा बन कर जीती है शहरों की असली प्राण वायु वहाँ आने वाले लोग होते हैं जो लौटते समय उसका हिस्सा बन कर पूरी दुनिया में उसे ले जाते हैं यही नहीं शहरों की भाषा भी खोजती रहती है अपने आप को कुछ आने वालों से सीखती है कुछ जाने वालों के साथ चली जाती है मुकुटधारी यहाँ के सिंहासन पर कुछ साल बैठते हैं फिर यहाँ की मिट्टी बन जाते हैं विस्मृत वे होते हैं शहर तो फिर वापस...

अगर संगीत नहीं होता तो क्या होता....... इन दिनों मेरे घर के हर कोने में कुछ न कुछ ऐसा रखा है जिससे मेरे कानों तक मधुर स्वर लहरियां आ सकती हैं जैसे ही आप घर में प्रवेश करते हैं बोस स्पीकर के साथ जुड़ा आई-पाड मिलेगा जिसमें शास्त्रीय , पॉप, राक, फ़िल्मी गानों का भंडार है आगे आएँगे ड्रॉइंग रूम और किचन में एलेक्सा हैं उसे ख़ाली अपनी पसंद बता दीजिए वो लगातार आपको वो ही सुनाती रहेगी कल मैंने उसे पंकज मलिक के गानों की फ़रमाइश  की उसने ‘पिया मिलन को जाना’ सुना दिया एक बेडरूम में रिकार्ड चेंजर भी है उस पर मैं बोनी एम से लेकर अमीर बाई कर्नाटकी तक के पुराने 78 आरपीएम रिकार्ड बजा लेता हूँ एफएम रेडियो है कैसेट प्लेयर है ये भी समय समय अपना अपना ख़ज़ाना खोलते रहते हैं . जब भी मुझे अवसाद घेरने लगता है यह संगीत ही है जो मुझे गले लगा लेता है ठीक एक वावफ़ा प्रेमिका की तरह, मैं धीरे धीरे उसकी गहराई में डूबने उतरने लगता हूँ अवसाद कहाँ चला जाता है पता ही नहीं चलता है. यही नहीं ख़ुशी के पल मुझे संगीत के बिना  अधूरे लगते हैं पहला प्यार शायद परवान ही नहीं चढ़ता अगर मैं ‘मेरे सप...

Book Reading Challenge  Fooled by Randomness by Nassim Nicholas Taleb The Hidden Role of Chance in Life and in the Markets is beautifully discussed in the book ‘Fooled by Randomness’ written by Taleb. It was gifted by Icarus and is in my book shelf since 2007. Taleb was born in Lebanon    and later migrated to America. He had gone to Wharton’ School of Business .  Taleb is a renowned writer, scholar, statistician, a former option trader and risk analyst, whose work concerns problems of randomness, probability, and uncertainty. You may not know much about billionaire Elon Musk but most of the car owners around the globe aspire to buy Tesla, fancy electric car created by Musk. He is a Canadian-American entrepreneur and the founder of many pathbreaking SpaceX, Tesla, and Zip2, among others. He was also one of the person  responsible for the success of PayPal. Currently he serves as (CEO) and Chief Designer (CDO) of SpaceX, CEO and product architect of Tesla, and chair of SolarCity. He is an out of box thinker, innovator with futuristic vision and creator , who despite adversity and the mold of society think about the optimal solutions to problems, work hard and realize them.
