What obstruct India to be a manufacturing hub ?

Image
I had some problem with my set top box and gone to my service provider 7 star to get it replaced. He replied,' Sir, you have to wait for a week's time as the supply delayed from China'. I was surprised that a simple device like set top box, where no rocket science is involve, the nation has to depend upon our political foe China. The country who has captured a large part of POK, fought war with us and still involved in skirmishes in Ladhakh, Arunanchal, we still prefer to import things which may easily manufactured locally. I probe little further, there are some factories in India making such boxes but these are high on price and low on quality. The service provider do not have choice but to go for imported one. Just visualise the electronic product manufacturing scene, story is very similar. Gadgets ranging from TV, mobiles, tablets to gaming console, imported one are cheaper than the locally manufactured or assembled one. So what then is the point to set up a fac...

Rahul's TV Interview made bigger Impact of Digital Space

Image
Yes, finally Rahul Gandhi, broke his silence and gave an exclusive interview on Times Now on January 27, 2014. Interviewer Arnab Goswami  tried  as usual  to be very aggressive and judgemental. Frankly speaking, I liked his interview, despite provocation from his interviewer, Rahul did not lower down himself to the level of Narendra Modi or Arvind kejrival. Whether he lead his party as a winner, but he has assured that without being cheap, he can put his point of view effectively.   It was   the social media world was abuzz with all kinds of comments. A first in the recent election campaigning, timed ahead of the General Elections in India in May 2014, the interview  found mention in over 2.92 million tweets as of January 28, 2014. Confirming the number, Times Group sources indicate that the interview recorded over 3 million mentions in tweets. Some of the biggest names in the industry and other users looked to social media...

SAARI RAAT : Tale of Male Chauvinism

Image
Parimal Aloke is a young creative person, actor and director. He is a part of Naseeruddin Shah and Ratna Pathak' theatre group Motely, acted in their so many plays including Anitgone and The Caine Mutiny Court Martial. Aloke was seen acting as nerdy Behari boy Safal Yadav in Saada Adda, also acted in Rajneeti and Dibankar's Love, Sex and Dhokha. He decided to do a slightly difficult job adopting a literary work for a film. He read Saari Raat a story written by eminent Hindi writer Kamta Nath and very much impressed. Having a miniscule budget at his disposal, he decided to make a short film. Kamta Nath is a Lucknow based Hindi writer but hardly got his dues for his wonderful portrayal of human intricacies. He was initially a part of Progressive Writers Group but never bothered about awards and accolades. His story Saari Raat is basically a conversation between a newly wed boy and a girl on the second night of their wedding when at the boy's insistence they d...

Creativity and Innovation : New Mantras For Survival

Image
I ask you a basic question, in case you are a trouser manufacturer, very hap and creative in designs what you have to do to get good premium for your creativity and innovation ? If you do not have a name or brand for your trouser, you have no choice but to sell it cheap, but in case you have created a brand you may definitely earn a rich premium. Today, no Indian company, except software names Infosys and TCS, may claim to own a brand of international repute despite the fact that in readymade garment manufacturing, Thirur, Banglore and host of other centres are the outsourcing hub for the top international brands. But the premium an Indian should earn is encased by owner of a foreign brand, who is outsourcing here is India and selling our own innovation in your own country and earning a premium, you as a customer very happy and proud to wear that stuff ! So many of my friends in my native place Moradabad are in brass art ware manufacturing and export business, most of them...

In the age of smart phones, when the entire office as well as entertainment world has squeezed into your palm, talking about craze of a calendar appears to be out of date. You do not carry bulky appointment diary, do not hang calendar in your office cabin or drawing room any more. Frankly speaking , with squeezing office space and smaller apartments, there is hardly any space left for a calendar, now at the most a classy painting is displayed to show your love for aesthetic and fine art. Younger generation who carry IPhone, Blackberry,Samsung or Nokia Lumia in their hand, can hardly understand craze for calendar. Infact, there was time when people used to start craving for next year's calendar in the month of November. They put all kind of efforts to make sure that Air India, LIC or SBI calendar come to their home as a prized possession. Those who long for bedroom type little sensual or erotic kind , used to pitch for wine or distillery company calendar. ...

Twisting Tail of Dragon

India and China both have great cultural history. China has given lot of things to the world in ancient time that includes printing technique , silk et al.On the other hand India happened to be a great hub of education, seekers from the far flung areas used to come to attend great Indian universities such as Takshila and Nalanda. Time changed India reeled under Islamic invaders and European traders who ultimately became rulers. Trade of China was also controlled by Britishers and Portuguese during 18th century. We do not want to go into details of why this happened but the fact is that from last 50 years China has emerged as super power, it now has aspiration to control the entire region as per its own whims and fancy. This reminds me during forties economic power Germany tried to control entire Europe and equally economically strong Japan attempted to replace a seemingly economically weakened and isolationist United State as the predominant Pacific Power which ultimately...
