Obama's New Initiatives in Immigration Policy : Too Late and Too Little

Big Apple has been a dream for talented and skilled people world over, a land of opportunity. Millions of people migrated to US to do some thing closer to their heart in a free and fair environment. Name, fame and money for individual and evolution of a nation leader in technology, science, art rather every sphere of life.  U.S.'s cutting edge in in field of technology depended upon regular flow of foreign born engineers to create them. So the technology industry was pushing very hard for changes in the country's Immigration Policy for more than a decade to allow more skilled workers into the country.  Many foreign technocrats in USA were waiting for Green Cards from a longer period of time, hanging in uncertainty, despite the fact that they contributed very hard to keep US far ahead of its competitors.  They will definitely be benefitted by Obama's Executive Order. But the fact remains it falls well short of what both immigrants and industry leaders were asking for. The ...

What is ailing Indian Pharma Industry

Due you know that Indian Pharma industry has more than 10% share in the global medicine production. The secret is R&D as well as cost effective generic medicines production. In the year 2012 out of the total production of US$ 22.6 billion, medicines worth US$ 14.84 billion were exported. USA is one of the major importer of our medicines. But of late it appears that all is not well here in Indian Pharma. It was in September this year Usa drug regulator Food and Drug Administration has made surprise inspection of sun Pharma's Hallol Plant in Gujrat, on the basis of reports on violation of good manufacturing practices.  Recently as many as 14 women were succumbed to medical misconduct in Bilaspur. Film is a great learning place for Assistant Directors

Nameless faceless people whose name appear as a minuscule mention in the titles of a movie, are armed with Walkie Talkies, running around taking cues from the Director, prompting dialogues to the hero or heroine, and even calling some creative shots. No doubt director is the captain of the ship when it comes to making a film but there is no denying that with out assistant directors, his job would be more cumbersome. These assistant directors, as a result-many of whom come with serious aspiration to become director-get to learn in the open school called Film Making. After a few years of being meagrely paid or in some cases even not paid, many among them director's seat. There was a time when there was no school for learning direction, or even if there were few could not be able to provide a costly big Bollywood budget to teach them bits and pieces of science and art of direction. List of those who started as assistant and become successful director is quite long. Few to mention - Ro...

The Betrayal : Kathleen O' Neal and W Michael Gear - Review

Image
I have just finished a religious thriller The Betrayal on the life and time of Jesus Christ. Though it was published in the year 2008, the premise of book is very much relevant today. It says religion is being used for political gain for a long time , the historical facts are suppressed in shrouded mystery to glorify certain myths, and for that hundred and thousand people are tortured, outcasted and killed. .    The Betrayal is an alternate story of the life and time of Jesus. One the early Church fathers found so menacing they outlawed the books that documented it, ordered them burned, and threatened anyone found copying them with death.   International bestselling authors and award-winning archaeologists Kathleen O'Neal Gear and W. Michael Gear put more than thirty years of exhaustive research into this fascinating novel. In A.D. 325, Brother Barnabas is a student of the ancient holy texts. These books paint a portrait of Jesus that is radical, heretical, and i...

Celebration Football League

Image
Lokhandwala is a very happening place, full of high rise buildings, lot of celebrities, very filmy, very fashionable. What it really lacks - an environment which encourage youth to indulge in sports. You may find hundred reasons for it - lack of encouragement from parents, absence of playgrounds in proportion of population of the area , lack of community support and other infrastructure. Say Good Morning Club is operating in Lokhandwala from last one and half year and trying to address the youth and community related issues. Idea of Football League floated by Say Good Morning Club almost six months back, tried to rope sponsors and strategic partners in the initiative. Meetings with sponsors does not yield tangible results as they had a feel that scale of event is too small. End of search was over after Celebration Club came forward to be a major partner in the initiative and also promised to lend financial support. After pursuing young ones and their parents from building to buildi...

Hindi Poetry :

Public Sector Banks Should Be Allowed To Function In Professional Manner

Image
Health of national economy is directly proportional to a sound banking system. Banking system will be sound when all major banks of the country are free to take their decisions in the most professional manner. Nationalized Banks handles  75 % of the total banking business , so the people sitting on their top posts should be thorough professional and political /  bureaucratic    interference nce should be bare minimum, however as for as checks and controls of regulator (read Central Bank) should be utmost stringent.  Having said that, if we see the way political masters and bureaucrats select, appoint CMDs and other top officials tells a different story. To start with, on October 27, the government cancelled proposed list for  appointment of 8 CMDs and 14 EDs for Public Sector Banks.  The decision is based on recommendations of a three member committee consisting of secretary expenditure, governor Reserve Bank of India and surprise o...

How Black is Indian Black Money

Image
How Black is Indian Black Money I have recently had an encounter with Indian Black Money. I was searching a flat in Bombay. The builder of the very first flat which our family liked most asked us that he will ccept only 60 per cent of the payment by cheques remaining we had to pay in cash. Initially, I do not understood the real meaning but when later I had clear picture of black money creation. If I would have agreed to his proposition, I would have also contributed creation of Rs 40 Lac black money in a single small deal of Rs 1 Crore  for the country. When I said I do not have any cash, each and every penny accounted for that too in my Bank Account than broker said 'Sir, do not worry, there are CAs who will help you in getting cash against your cheque payment and also a small earning also. Same story with most of the builders, the deal needs 30 to 40 percent cash. Fortunately, I could find a seller who gracefully accepted the entire payment in cash, thus he saved me in additi...

Poetry :

Halloween Day with an Indian Witch

Image
Anuja  Anuja Gala is   a modern witch stays in the very heart of   Lokhandwala upmarket area of Mumbai. She has a shop in Sunswept building, she   specializes in angel cards reading, runic forecast, crystal gazing, healing sessions. Often she performs the spell. According to her, Halloween is the day that noble souls roam the Earth. The witches draw their energy via a ritual to cast a spell for world peace. There is crisis around the globe, terror is threatening the very existence of humanity. Halloween marks the end of the harvest season in west and harbinger of winter. Straddling the line between fall and winter, plenty and paucity, life and death, Halloween is a time of celebration and superstition. It is thought to have originated with the ancient Celtic festival of Samhain, when people would light bonfires and wear costumes to ward off roaming ghosts. In the eighth century, Pope Gregory III designated November 1 as a time to honor all saints and martyrs...
