There are many American places in USA bearing Indian Names

Do you know there is a city called Almora  in United States also.
It is not alone area which sounds Indian in United States of America. There are eight  cities in USA named after Indian cities. If you have money, time, energy and ghumakkad  attitude plan a visit to the United States, stop by Delhi, Lucknow, Calcutta, Madras, Salem, Almora etc.
Almora in Uttrakhand is known for its salubrious climate, hilly terrain, rich cultural heritage. There is a place called Almora in USA, it  is an unincorporated community in Kane County, Illinois State .
Delhi in India is the Capital city. The US Delhi is a town in Delaware County, United States. It doesn’t have the Mughal monuments like the Indian side of things but was once known as the ‘heart of the Ontario tobacco belt.
The city of aadabs, nawabs, and kebabs is home to some culinary and historical importance in India. And Lucknow in Dauphin County, Pennsylvania, United States, is a small unincorporated community. It derives its name from the capital city of the state of Uttar Pradesh and is in the Harrisburg-Carlisle area. If you thought there is just one place names Lucknow in the USA, you are highly mistaken. There is Lucknow in Hampshire, West Virginia, Minnesota and South Carolina as well.
Talk about another coinciding name in India and United States, and Salem comes to light. No, don’t worry, this is not something out of Manmohan Desai Ji’s movie, which had stories on the lost and found plot. Salem in Tamil Nadu has its name mentioned in the 1st and 2nd-century inscriptions. It is a Hebrew word for Peace. Doesn’t it all look so tranquil right now, and indeed Salem does have a special place in the people’s heart of the two nations.
Calcutta has also got a distant cousin in US , Calcutta in Columbiana County, Ohio, was first named West Union in 1810. It was called Foulkstown due to William Foulks as he built the first brick house at the location. It went through various name changes, including ‘Nineveh’ before getting its current name Calcutta. The place saw growth after the 1980s and is on a growth journey.
Baroda in Gujrat is a lovely place, as is the one in the States. Baroda in India serves some mouth-watering dishes like Dhokla, Fafda, Khakhra, Thepla, Handvo, among others. There is a village named Baroda in the Berrien County of Michigan. People believe that Michael Houser founded the place as he platted it, and the beautiful Baroda in the States came to life in 1907.
Todays’ Tamilnadu was earlier  known as Madras, and yes Chennai city was also called Madras. There are many people in India who still call Chennai as Madras. And there is an area in US called Madras. It is located about 45 minutes north of Bend, it  is home to deep desert canyons, river gorges and other unexpected delights — an indoor aquatic center with a waterslide and a lazy river, a Saturday market in the summer, golf, hiking, and a skate park.
