वेटफ़ोर्ड कृष्ण मंदिर का  द बीटल्स के मुख्य गायक जार्ज हैरिसन कनेक्शन भारत भूमि से आठ हज़ार किलोमीटर की दूरी पर लन्दन शहर के केंद्र बिन्दु से केवल दस मील  की दूरी पर वेटफोर्ट उपनगर है जहां सत्तर एकड़ से भी अधिक बड़े विशाल परिसर में राधा कृष्ण का सुंदर मंदिर है , परिसर में विशाल गौशाला     है , तुलसी वन है साथ ही गुरुकुल पद्धति का स्कूल भी संचालित किया जाता है . यह सब बिना किसी प्रचार के सन् 73 से इंटरनेशनल     सोसाइटी फॉर कृष्ण कॉन्शियसनेस (इस्कॉन) द्वारा संचालित किया जा रहा है . पिछली जन्माष्टमी पर ब्रिटेन के निवर्तमान प्रधान मंत्री ऋषि सौनक भी दर्शन हेतु आये थे. यही नहीं हाल ही में     राजा चार्ल्स के राज्याभिषेक के अनुष्ठान में इस मंदिर के पुरोहितों     ने भी भाग लिया था .   लेकिन इस मंदिर की स्थापना की कहानी मशहूर ब्रिटिश पॉप ग्रुप द बीटल्स से शुरू होती है . छठे और सातवें दशक के अंतर राष्ट्रीय संगीत परिदृश्य को जितना द बीटल्स ने प्रभावित किया उतना किसी अन्य गायक या ग्रुप ने नहीं किया. इसी के साथ रोचक तथ्य यह भी है कि यह ग्र...

मालिनी अवस्थी : लोक गीतों की बारिश से सराबोर हुआ लन्दन  मौसम सावन का हो और लोक राग रंग कज़री से सज जाए तो माहौल ख़ुशनुमा हो जाता है . अगर यह सब मिर्ज़ापुर और बनारस से आठ हज़ार किमी पर लन्दन में हो तो फिर क्या कहिए . कल लन्दन में बसे उत्तर भारतीयों  के संगठन यूपीसीए और नेहरू केंद्र के संयुक्त आयोजन में उत्तर प्रदेश की जानी मानी लोक गायिका मालिनी अवस्थी ने जो सावन की कजरी , दादरा की तो बारिश की उसने नेहरू केंद्र के आडिटोरियम में उपस्थित श्रोताओं के दिल को अंदर तक भिगो दिया.  इतर के शहर कन्नौज में जन्मी मालिनी ने संगीत की बुनियादी तालीम पहले रामपुर घराने  के सुजाद हुसैन खां साहब और बाद में पटियाला घराने के राहत अली खां साहब से ली. बाद में बनारस आ कर अप्पा  साहेब  और गिरिजा देवी से भी सीखा . लेकिन अपनी दादी नानी से सुनी कजरी से उनकी एक अलग पहचान बनी है जो सच में कन्नौज के इतर की तरह से देस परदेस में खूब फैली है .  कजरी गीत मूलत: उन स्त्रियों के दुख दर्द हैं जिनके पति पैसा कमाने के लिए परदेस जाते थे, सालों साल उन्हें अपने पति का केवल इंतज़ार रहता था इस बीच ...

बात यही कोई 1979 की है , माहेश्वर तिवारी को मुरादाबाद आकर बसे हुए चंद वर्ष ही हुए थे और वे अपने नव गीतों की ख़ुशबू से जिगर साहब के वतन को सुवासित करने में लगे थे . उनका गोकुलदास कॉलेज रॉड स्थित आवास हम सभी के लिए खुला रहता था , वे बसंत पंचमी पर जब अपने घर सरस्वती पूजा रखते तो नगर के छोटे बड़े सभी साहित्यकार जमा होते , भाभी बाल सुंदरी अपने मधुर गायन के साथ ही सुरुचिपूर्ण व्यंजन भी परोसतीं .  उन्हीं दिनों हमने स्टेट बैंक में एक बड़ी काव्य गोष्ठी रखी थी जिसमें देश के जाने माने कवि आमंत्रित थे , इसके संचालन का दायित्व भाई माहेश्वर जी को सौंपा था. बैंक के स्टाफ सदस्य ही नहीं तमाम गणमान्य व्यवसायी भी इसमें आमंत्रित थे . बिना बताए माहेश्वर भाई ने सबसे पहले मुझे ही मंच पर पढ़ने के लिए आमंत्रित कर लिया , मैं मंच के लटके झटकों  से तब तक परिचित नहीं था , कवि गण काव्य पाठ से पूर्व लंबी भूमिका बांधते हैं , मैंने ऐसा कुछ भी नहीं किया सीधे कविता पढ़नी शुरू कर दी . उत्सव जैसा माहौल था और मेरे काफ़ी सारे सहयोगी हाई स्पिरिटेड हो कर बैठे थे , ऐसे में कविता सर के ऊपर से गुज़र रही थी मेरे साथियों ...
