Mount Shuksan : Most Photographed Mountain in the World

Last week I visited Mount Shuksan area. It is located in Washington State close to Canada borers. It is a magnifique and majestic mountain in NW cascade range.
We covered the distance in  three hours starting from Sammamish , hilly part of the route was amazing. En route ,  we stopped for a while at Bellingham for charging the car . Enjoyed passing through Vanzandt in Whatcom Counnty from where we could see Vanzandt Dyke. Further drive through Nooksack river , Nooksack fall and South fork valley was scenic delight. The best spot en route is definitely Picture Lake ,  walking around the the lake  is unforgettable experience as it is the best spot to take best pictures of snow clad Mount Shuksan peaks . A further drive through zigzag road took us to most scenic place called as Artistic Point. There is an interesting trail starting from the point , walking on this trek is not difficult , in fact trekking here is an wonderful  experience . While tracking you can have very close view of  Mount Shuksan as  if you can touch it. From this track  , the view of cascade peaks is 360 degree. We could also see mighty  snow clad Mount Baker.
The traditional name of Mount Shuksan in the local Nooksack language is Shéqsan (high foot) or Ch’ésqen (golden eagle) The mountain is composed of Shuksan greenschist, oceanic basalt that was metamorphosed when the Easton terrane collided with the west coast of North America, some 120 million years back. The mountain is an eroded remnant of a thrust plate formed by the Easton collision  .
Mt. Shuksan epitomizes the jagged alpine peak like no other massif in the North Cascades, it has no equal in the range when one considers the structural beauty of its four major faces and five ridges. There is no other range  in the American West of a peak with great icefall glaciers derived from a high plateau, and in the Pacific Northwest it is the only non-volcanic peak whose summit exceeds timberline by more than 3000 feet. Shuksan is called  paradise  in the North Cascades and its reputation is certainly deserved; a wide variety of challenges can be encountered on this quite complex mountain. The climber has a choice of rock walls, moderate firnfields, steep ice, and easy scrambling. Despite a sometimes-forbidding appearance, Shuksan has yielded 14 routes, numerous variations, and impressive subsidiary climbs, including some directly up dangerous ice cliffs." Shuksan is one of the most photographed mountains in the world for it's striking beauty and easy access.
While driving en route we also saw  Mt. Baker Ski Area . Those who love skiing , for them this area is a kind of paradise. It falls in  Whatcom County, at the end of State Route 542. The base elevation is at 3,500 feet, while the peak of the resort is at 5,089 feet. Mount Baker has 11 lifts within its 998 Acres of terrain that is suitable for intermediate and advanced levels, including terrain park enthusiasts.
