Brahmastra Movie Review
Brahmastra Part One Shiva - My Take
I saw this Dharma Production Movie directed by Ayan Mukherji in a multiplex in Issaquah Highland WA which is running Hindi as well as Telugu version of the movie. To my surprise, the theatre was full in both versions.
After watching this movie this is my takeaway :
1. This is simply a visual delight . The kind of visual effects are there in it, comparable with Avengers, Lord of Rings and Harry Potter series .Hope this will be a kind of game changer in Indian Films in terms of tech and visual effects.
2. A whole generation of the young audience in India who loves Marvel Comics kind of genre can little bit co-relates to the stories listened from grandmothers with this movie. But sorry to say that in this kind of attempt the movie some-what lacks a scientific quest. Should the sequel be having some kind of scientific temperament.
3. Of course , the people who are searching a serious cinema in it should not watch it. But the fantasy had always attracted Hindi readers from ages. Devki Nandan Khatri’s Chandra Kanta Santati and Bhootnath compelled non-Hindi speaking people to learn Hindi just to enjoy the fantasy . So, there is a large section of audience simply loves fantasy and this movie will entrill that section.
4. The background score of the film suits to the story and enhances the visual impact . Songs are in fact Okay but in this genre of movies songs obstruct the neutral flow of movie.
5. Alia is in her best, Ranbeer lived a make believe character transforming into a Superman. Nagarjuna in small role impresses , Shahrukh Khan has a small cameo as scientist, Amitabh Bachchan as high tech Guru is a make believe role .
6. It is packed with stunning visuals. Locations especially virgin ice clad mountains of Himachal and Ghats of Benaras are very good.
7. Action scenes particularly the fighting scenes in car while driving narrow hilly roads are gripping.
Overall I can say that this is just a beginning of new genre in Bollywood. The movie itself leaves so much loose ends for its sequels
