META and Metaverse

News has just cropped up that Facebook is going to change its name to META. I do not know it will help them to paint away the allegations made by the whistleblowers as well as social media thinkers . 

But the company is working hard on a product called metaverse The future of social media is going to become exciting with introduction of metaverse element in coming time. 

So first we should try to explain what is metaverse ? Metaverse has been a part of science fiction for the popular kids novels viz Snow crash and Ready Player One,  you may say that it is a digital universe where characters live parallel digital live to their physical existence. You can have its glimpse in video game such as Roblox and Fortnite to understand what Facebook has got  in its mind. The idea is that smartphones are reaching their limitations in creating immersive competing experience and people has  hunger to go little further opting to engage in three dimensional digital interaction for example instead of doing video chats you can think about the metaphor as an embodiment Internet. 

In fact , Facebook has been laying the foundation of metaverse since at least 2014 when the company  bought Oculus,  the virtual reality headset company.   a oculus was called to cover it’s virtual and augmented reality a part of its game plan  in 2017.  Facebook recently plan to recruit ten thousand people in Europe over the next five years to help create the metaphors.

Interestingly Facebook is going to play both offense and defense here if the metaverse become the next big thing in interacting online. Facebook has also long been aware that it’s access to use a slice from the companies as Apple Inc. and alphabet Inc. Google and their devices and operating systems one on one where it has been highlighted by

Facebook‘s strategy to defuse concerns about its intention is to talk about them before the matter really exists and seemingly reversal of the grown-up concerns about the present products and iron out the kinks little mindset that has led to many issues when it’s social networking products critics have suggested that the companies metaphors discussions are primarily designed to deflect uncomfortable questions about those other products for his part of the company‘s CTO Bosworth says Facebook has learned about the consequences technology has on society and thinks It has  to have faith that it can do better this time around the product that the company is contemplating have never existed . Bosworth further says that we have to make a decision on how they are going to be and it just takes a degree of confidence to do that. 

So, in near future we may expect a new kind of social media experience on Facebook space for good or bad the time only will tell.
