Innerwear Market : The Heat Is On


Innerwear  is  high growth category in the Indian Apparel scene and poised for further growth and innovation. The changing life style in ‘B’, ‘C’ cities and  higher disposable income in middle class  along with  product innovations by the innerwear market have turned innerwear from a traditionally utilitarian item to an essential fashion statement.
The current size of the Indian innerwear market is roughly $5 Billion. The category is also growing at an impressive CAGR of 12 per cent and is expected to reach $5.5 billion by the end of 2018 as per the industry estimate.. The womens’ innerwear market, which is driven by value-added innerwear products, contributes around 60 per cent to the market.
Inner Secrets magazine, which has become a platform of consumers as well as voice of Innerwear industry, has taken initiative to create intimate apparel trade show, INTIMASIA, at Ernakulam, Kochi, from 8 March to 10 March. INTIMASIA is the first of its kind event in India where all the Innerwear  Industry leaders and stake holders will assemble to explore,  engage and discuss the issues relating to the industry. More than 70 intimate apparel brands will a be present to showcase their designs and products and to connect with consumers directly. And by the way one of the local brand V-Star, will partner in the event. Yusuf Dohadwala, the person behind  the event INTIMASIA and the CEO of the Intimate Apparel Association of India (IAAI), says, "INTIMASIA being India's largest intimate apparel trade event, it is only apt that a reputed brand like V-Star be a part of it. No intimate apparel trade show in India can be complete without V-Star and we are sure that the industry will definitely benefit from the brand's presence."
The event will not only showcase the best of the industry but also help the players to gaze into the future of the innerwear industry in India.
