Heeral Trivedi : The Creative Wings That Raise Her Higher

Yesterday evening. There was a big allurement to see red and blue moon, a rare event  seen only once in life time. But I settled to see Heeral Trivedi's solo exhibition at Tao Art Gallery Worli, and believe me I did not regret even once.

Main focus of her work is woman and her empowerment,  she weaves this  in a surreal plain so it transport the viewer into her imagination which intrigues and inspires to dream.

Heeral's  technique is slightly different and reminiscent of some of the master artists. I saw each canvas carefully, most of them brought alive with the happiness and freedom, each one is a beautiful visual story  in a contemporary style. She uses light brush strokes and romantic colors with utmost softness showing symbiotic bond with nature. She  is heavily inspired by the floral patterns in the engraving at Taj, she borrows those floral patterns and uses in most of the paintings on display.

From the sideline of the show, she did find time to speak to me.
I ask her,' In nut shell, what is the essence of your work ?'
She takes her own time and tells,'

She says,' I emphasize on ideas, emotions and subjectivity, which is romantic in a way but honestly very real in nature.'

'You are painting from last 25 years, how do you challenge yourself ?'

'When I start a new painting, I start afresh in terms of composition and even the images. I introduce many images in my works which changes with the layers, that is where I see the challenge I put myself in. Moving away from a predictable comfort zone. It does not become a matter of taking risks or playing safe but I rather I call it moments of excitement, as the work gets along. The unpretentious surfaces, the superimposition of image, often deletion and re-emergence of several images and motifs is the part of my work.'

'So how you discover your art?'

'One's way of life, thought process, choices...all become part of the art of 'living'. I recognize this, so my work flows out easily. I view even the mundane objects, moments of everyday life and people from a different perspective that become part of my work and thus find aesthetic value in everything that I encounter.'

'How much of Heeral we can see in your work ?'

'In my paintings definitely there is  a reflection of me, the figures, motifs all are integral part of my self and sensibilities. Those who know me, they can easily sieve through the work and discover me!'

The painting which impressed me most in the show was beyond doubt is, 'Secret of Urn.' It illustrates the existence and perseverance of the female nature in the cosmos, whether she be the form of a constellation, a warrior or a celestial being. Her inherent nature of being able to survive, overcome and rise above all the challenges the world  hurl towards her dictates a her flight of freedom. The phases of moon and the random bird come together and create the perfect ending.

Heeral studied fine art at famous MS University Badodara and chosen Badodara as her creative abode.
