Khattar's Name Change Fever Even Griped Czech Politicians

Image
Khattar's Name Change  Fever Griped  Even  Czech Politicians Probably Czech politicians have taken cue from Indian political torch bearers, Czech politicians have also pushed name game.  Czechia will soon be synonymous with the Czech Republic. But they have some finer point to make. Unlike most European countries, the Czech Republic  lacks  a one-word version of its name in foreign languages. Now, the country is set to use the name Czechia in English, Tschechien in German or Tchequie in French,” translations of “Cesko” in Czech. So now Czech, a one-word name,  is more practical and flexible for various uses. Neighboring Slovakia is officially the Slovak Republic. Similarly, Russia is used for the Russian Federation. Top Czech leaders, including President Milos Zeman, Prime Minister Bohuslav Sobotka, speakers of both chambers of Parliament and the foreign and defense ministers met Thursday and endorsed the new name. They feel th...

नाम में बहुत कुछ है - Whether Change in Name of Gurugaon Will Bring Any Change In The Life Of Gurgaon Residents ?

Image

Leisure Travel : New Dimensions

Image
In our childhood days, most of the people in India travel predominantly for two purpose : families that travel on vacation, which typically but not always take them back to an ancestral home, a nearby hill station or pilgrims visiting various temples and shrines all year round. Leisure trips to exotic destinations were reserved to uber riches which  could be counted easily on figure tips. And yes, going for holy bath in Ganga at Haridwar, Garh, Allahabad, Varanasi is a very old tradition. Visit to Nashik, Ujjain, Haridwar, Allahabad during Kumbh or Ardh Kumbh is a age old tradition in our country. But the agenda for leisure vacationers was very limited, when they ventured to a new place was one of brutal simplicity: cover as much ground as possible in as little time as possible, stopping only for the mandatory family photo, against a famous landmark. Pilgrims may have started with little other than god on their minds, but over the years, they've wanted their personal time w...

Music is Changing Its Track

Image
I moved to Bombay in the year 1986, precisely 30 years back, in between I traveled across the country sometime due to official compulsion on the next due to personal reasons. Music scene was predominated by release of Bollywood film music, small time pop singers like Alisha Chinoy, Shweta Shetty or Ghazal albums of Jagjjt Singh, Rajendra Mehta, Chandan Das, Ghanshyam Vaswani, Bhajan Albums of Anup Jalota, Hari Om Sharan on many occasion followed by live performances organized by music companies and the entry by invitation only. Mumbai Rock or Pop scene was not very encouraging either with lone exception of one Michael Jackson concert at Andheri Sports Complex, thanks to Thakerey family’s fascination of his dance and songs. But lot has changed on music front in India, now less conventional releases of music CDs/DVDs of performing artists and growing number of music festivals with different themes and genres. Another big change is jam packed music festivals in tier II tier III cities...

FICCI FRAMES DAY Two : Discussions on Relevant Issues

Image
To develop and improve the mind set   of citizens it was of utmost importance that children were exposed to responsible   entertainment and education.   Right kind of education was more important than   Right to Education. Children consists one-third of India’s population, hence it becomes critical for broadcasters and content creators to develop content which adds value and balances education and entertainment. Therefore, India needs an Act that regulates and monitors the content viewed by children as they are the future citizens of the country. The Act should also provide parenting guidelines. This was stated by eminent media and entertainment industry veterans at a session on   ‘India needs a kids content Act’ on the second day of FICCI FRAMES.   The kids programming in India needs customization and original content. An effective Act will ensure the largest kids population that India has gets the right content, education through entertainment...
