PROBING THE MIND OF TERRORIST
I am little upset today after reading the fate of 295 innocent souls onboard Malaysian Airlines's plane over the Ukraine' s sky. It is reported that the plane was shot by terrorists operating in Ukraine and opposing it's integration with European Union. Without saying, you can correctly guess that the gang is supported by Russian establishment.
The big question is - why a person becomes a terrorist. There may be a number of factors and reasons. First and foremost is money, it is easy to allure poor and deprived people and recruit them by offering a good package. Then there are people who are devout religious, pump them with videos, newspaper reports as well as Religious Gurus' sermons that their religion is in danger and time has come when somebody has to pick up sword/ deadly modern weapons for the cause. Another reason may be retrieve back land from occupant country, citing pages from history ( some time morphed ). Super charged with glory of religion or land many young mind offer to fight without expecting big monetary gains and inducted into 'Holy War' doctrine. They go through intensive training in warfare, act of mass destruction and other similar acts, they are programmed in such a way that they feel their death as ultimate glory.
Now who are the masterminds ? The people who feel their religion is the best and the entire world should be ruled as per the tenets of their religious book. There are certain governments who do not want to go into costly full scale war with their neighbour, so they want to see the enemy bleeding by act of terror, which is really a very low cost war game. Non-state actors are effective controlled by state actors and state machinery. This is what exactly we have seen during past 25 years. Spots are spread over the world map, right from Mumbai, Delhi, Amritsar, Bengalore, Kolkata, Gaza strip to far flung New York City, London, Paris . It costs precious human lives, property and more than anything trust. Act is done by few people but whole of the community or religious group suffers as we have seen at the time of Sikh Militancy or Bombay Blast that people fear with any Sikh or Muslim, probably that is the ultimate aim of masterminds, to create feeling of alienness or isolation in the minority groups and convert entire area into conflict zone.
So is there a way out to end this mindless terror? Yes or No both, it all depends upon the world community to get united , isolate terror master minds and expose them, and there after , fight with these cowards collectively. The political leaders as well as the religious zealots who create these monsters out of ordinary people should be punished by the world community.Instead of searching the terrorists punishing them a similar media warfare need to be created to counter false propaganda, punishing terror masterminds instead of foot soldiers. It is very important but not impossible.
