Our organisation Freelance Media Journalists Combine has been associated with MAMI's initiative right from the beginning, our members have enjoyed watching world cinema, used the platform to interact with film celebrities gathered from across the globe and given objective coverage in the respective publications. in fact FMJC members published special bulletins during the course of festival to give topical coverage , which was appreciated by the delegates as well as the organisers also.

MAMI was initiated by film industry stalwarts in 1997 under leadership of late Shri Hrishikesh Mukherji. Initially the Festival was started in a very modest way, fewer films, very few international film celebrities and limited audience but world cinema lovers were delighted to gave a window of world cinema in their own city. In last few years, it has surpassed Goa Festival in terms of grandeur, number of international celebrities as well as selection of movies. Association of Ambanis with the festival brought more money and resources but brought business angle in it.This year the festival will be opened with an American film The Butler directed by Lee Denial.

This year the festival is hosting Celebration of Spanish Cinema. This package will include classics like El Verdugo, Seven Days in January, Carman. Films from countries like Cambodia and Afganistan will also be a part of festival. Best of contemporary French Cinema will be a part of Rendezvous with French Cinema.

Few interesting side line activities are also planned. Internationally acclaimed directors Bruce Beresford and noted editor Jill Billcock will conduct Master Classes. india's first ever Composer Lab will also held at yash Raj Studio, Andheri. The Lab will be presented by UK's Bohemia Junction Limited and Abbey Road Studios, it will offer an unique opportunity to he budding composers to interact with successful professionals in the field of music. There will also be a screen writers lab also it will be conducted by Equinoxe with help of film script expert Claire Dobbin and James Hart who has written film script like 'Hook' and 'Bam Stroker's Dracula'.

Speaking on the occasion, noted film maker Shyam Benegal, who is the president of MAMI said that the festival has grown from strength to strength . This could be possible because of support from Tina Ambani and her Reliance Entertainment as well as active involvement of Government of Maharashtra.
Now the festival stand out as a true International Festival.
