Happy 75th Birthday Capt Gupta

It was August 1987 and I got a letter from Delhi, it was from one Capt Gupta informing me that I am his cousin but have never met earlier. He intended to shift to Bombay and needed my help. After a week's time Capt Gupta arrived in Bombay, the first thing he did after reaching here,  was contacting me. When we met for the first time his positive energy and open heartedness impressed me. Journey of relationship from distant cousins who never met to be more then the real brothers is very interesting.  Today he celebrated his 75th birthday with very close friends and relatives, suddenly past 25 years moved like show reel before me.

His relationship has taught me few lessons. The first and foremost :  relationship should  not be demanding, always have intent to give . Once you started giving in relationship, you will always have strong bonding with people. Second : whenever you meet with people, show your best, be cheerful never discuss your worries and problems to begin conversation. This will win more friends. When you meet someone and start narrating your problems, people will listen but if it is your in that kind of  habit, people will loose their interest in you. I can write a number of pages on his human side and other virtues, but this is not space and time to talk about that. I just want to share his journey as well as the joy of attaining  75 years age.

Capt Gupta,  I met him first time in 1987, he was around 50 years but very energetic, keen on learning small to big thing, routine was very disciplined, get up around 6 o' clock in the morning, preparing his cup of tea, walking every thing in a clock work precision. Whenever he used to go out for eating out always try to eat some new dish thereafter replicating it at home by trial and error method after searching books on subject, finding its recipe (mind it at that time there was no internet and no google ! Learning new things was his passion, attending classes on Mushroom cultivation to learning astrology, the list will easily consume few pages. All this has made him sturdy, focussed and engaged. That is the reason despite his bypass surgery, abnormally high sugar level and other multiple health disorders, he is a lively person. In this age also he has sharp memory, urge to connect people.

Life was not very rosy for him in the beginning, he struggled a lot to survive , but he had never lost his composure. Today when he has got bank balance, cars, big house and every thing, he has become more sober and kind.

I salute him on this day and wish him to enjoy many more years connecting people, making more friends doing more yeoman service !
