Kaise Hai Aloo Chaat

Comedy flicks never go out of fashion. The latest flick is 'Aloo Chaat', starring Aftab Shivdasani (seen on-screen after a long time). The movie introduces Aamna Shariff, on the big screen. She has acted on small screen in the soap opera 'Kahin To Hoga'. The supporting cast includes Linda Arsenio, Kulbhushan Kharbanda, Manoj Pahwa, Dolly Ahluwalia, Meenakshi, Sanjay Mishra, Brijendra Kala, Kailash Soni and Chandan Anand.

Robby Grewal has directed the movie. The Film is produced by Anuj Saxena, A. P. Parigi and Gary S. The movie released on 20th March 2009.

It is based around the perplexing situation being faced by Nikhil (Aftab Shivdasani). A part of a Punjabi family, living in the capital city of Delhi, he has just returned from US. In the States, where he went to complete his studies, Nikhil met a muslim girl (Aamna Shariff) and fell in love with her. Nikhil comes to India for a vacation, his parents start showing him Punjabi girls for wedding, since he is now of marriageable age. Having an orthodox background Purshottam (Kulbhushan Kharbanda), Nikhil’s father will obiously against his love marriage.

Hesitant to tell his parents about the love of his life, Nikhil decides to approach his father's best friend Hakim Tara Chand (Manoj Pahwa). Tara Chand is a sexologist by profession and is the only person who can convince Purshottam about his love. Nikhil and Tara Chand hatch a plot. They bring Nikhil's girlfriend into the family alongwith an American girl Linda Arsenio who actually stays in India, as per the plan has come to marry Nikhil . However, standing as hurdles in the plot are Chhdami mama (Sanjay Mishra), Beeji (Dolly Ahluwalia) and Seeto (Meenakshi). As the story moves ahead, it becomes spicy and full of 'masala', just like an aloo chat.

Without established stars and despite its low budget, the film is able to engage the viewers to large extant. True that the plot looks not so convincing but in the name of cinematic liberty thoda thoda unconvincing plot may be tolerable if the flow of story is smooth.

A typical andaz of Delhi particularly the kunchas, galli’s around Chandni Chowk and Daryaganj was shown in recently released Delhi 6. Now Aloo Chat movies also shows typical Delhiwali culture, which is refreshingly different . The film try to shows conflict of old values and new generation but only on superficial level .

Overall this film is a good time pass

A Peep Into Life Of A Stand-up Comedian - Punit Pania

I met Punit Pania yesterday at Independence Brewing Company. an happening watering hole in Lokhandwala area just before his stand-up comedy act. In fact he was generous enough to share his space with The Book  Club event on first floor of pub, he shared his journey from a safe Corporate Den to the wild world of stand-up comedians. Punit is a Non-Gujju born and broughtup in Gujju dominated Society in Kandivali East as a protected child, where his parents did not allow him to travel any place beyond the reach of auto rikshaw ! Elton John is my most favorite singer. He is a singer, songwriter, pianist and composer all rolled into one. In terms of sales, he is the fourth-best-selling music artist worldwide .
