Bollywood Movies Now The Most potent Icon of Indianness

Did you ever thought what is the common thread among the billion Indians not only in far flung parts of country but also in rest of the world ? Answer is very simple, it is Hindi movies (jinhe pyaar se Bollywood movies bhee kehte hain). Irrespective of religion, caste, region or mother tongue, every Indian enjoy its magical spell, glamour and emotions. When the hero weeps the audience weep, hero beats the villain it claps, when the hero dances the audience also tap its feet. This is the power of bollywood. I experienced at two different places. Last year in Washington DC I had an occasion to see a bollywood movie in a theatre, it was a Sunday when most of the Americans go far long drive to beaches, calm and cozy destinations, a non descriptive theatre screening Hindi movie was packed. Another instance was in the far flung Assemese capital Guwahati, at the new year eve in a star hotel new year bash all the songs played, performed were from latest bollywood movies. Not surprising, whenever any political party or leader in any non Hindi speaking state, with intent desire to win on sub regional saddle try to disrupt shows of Hindi movies thereby attacking the very concept of Indianness..



Yesterday I was at Star Screenworld Annual Award function at Mumbai suburb Bandra and tried to understand the secret and might of Hindi films. I could see almost entire Hindi film industry assembled over there. This year Life Time Achievement Award was given to Sanjay Khan, who came to try his luck in Hindi films from Karnatka. I could see heart throbbing beauties Katrina Kaif, Aishwarya Rai, Bipasha Basu, Rekha none of them is from UP, Bihar or Hindi speaking family. Male stars are no exception John Abraham is a keralite. Ace Director of Jodha Akbar Ashutosh Gowarikar or Ghajini's A Murugadoss in main koi bhee Hindiwala nahin ! If you ask me whether they are Hindi Lovers Nope ! Some of them can hardly understand intricacy of the language! That is why they and their likes come and join Hindi films. The kind of money, name and fame they can enjoy at bollywood, may be a dream in their own mother tongues as the reach is confined to only a small geographical region. When best of Hindustan will come together work together then only bollywood dream starts !



So my dear friends bollywood has grown up as our national role model, if you want to see the other sectors shine , try to draw best of the country, do not confine it to a region, caste or religion.

A Peep Into Life Of A Stand-up Comedian - Punit Pania

I met Punit Pania yesterday at Independence Brewing Company. an happening watering hole in Lokhandwala area just before his stand-up comedy act. In fact he was generous enough to share his space with The Book  Club event on first floor of pub, he shared his journey from a safe Corporate Den to the wild world of stand-up comedians. Punit is a Non-Gujju born and broughtup in Gujju dominated Society in Kandivali East as a protected child, where his parents did not allow him to travel any place beyond the reach of auto rikshaw ! Not only that her mother was so protective that she was happy to concede her son's intent to start a pathological lab in the area so that he come every day for maa ke haath kaa dopahar ka khana ! Searching Roots of Sir Elton John In Pinner ,London

Elton John is my most favorite singer. He is a singer, songwriter, pianist and composer all rolled into one. In terms of sales, he is the fourth-best-selling music artist worldwide . In 1998, he was knighted by British Queen this got ‘Sir’ title, but for music lover like me whether he is Sir or not a Sir , it is immaterial. He has won heart of millions of music lovers, that is more important. These days I am living in Harrow Burroughs of London, Pinner is a part of it. Yesterday I was in Pinner Library and out of a conversation between two young ladies I come to know that this international rock sensation was born and brought up in this area only.
