My Mumbai International Film Festival 6th Edition Shows Lot Of Promise

Image
Before talking about 6th edition of My Mumbai International Short Film Festival, we will try to find out why suddenly Short Films are in-thing these days. A short film is motion picture not long enough to be considered a feature film. The US Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences defines a short film as "an original motion picture that has a running time of 40 minutes or less, including all credits".In the United States, short films were generally termed short subjects from the 1920s into the 1970s when confined to two 35mm reels or less, and featurettes for a film of three or four reels. "Short" was an abbreviation for either term. The increasingly rare industry term "short subject" carries more of an assumption that the film is shown as part of a presentation along with a feature film. Short films are often screened at local, national, or international film festivals and made by independent filmakers with either a low bu...

Why Do We Feel London Like Our Own

Image
I travel globally, the kind of comfort I enjoy in exploring London, I do not have in any other city, the only exception is the city of New York and my own Bombay. An average Indian like me feel at home here in London, it is partly due to our shared past and English language. Visit any other European city or town, you will definitely feel language barrier. The fact is that one can spend a lifetime exploring this city, and every time feel surprised from Pinner to Kensington and everywhere in between, London’s diverse districts have distinct personalities but all retain The Big Smoke’s energetic approach to life and quirky charm. London is cosmopolitan to its core , it is British with people from around the globe drawn to the city. Such diversity has seen London become a place of endless possibilities. See a film at a French cinema? No problem. Brunch at a Nordic bakery? Pure Vegetarian or Vegan lunch at Ethiopians Food joint, Dinner at an authentic Indian restaura...

I One sweet but many claims, the Levant, the Caucasus, Balkans, Maghreb, and Central and West Asian countries all swear to claim ownership. It's real close cousin in India is Balushahi which is prepared with clarified butter, sugar syrup and maida occasionally topped with nuts, it is so crispy that put in your mouth it will soon dissolved leaving behind celestial flavor and taste. My first crush with this delicacy was in the year 2000, when one of my friend imported it in bulk quantity to distribute with wedding card of his son ! He was such a big fan of baklava. From the year 2007, I started traveling abroad so now for me it is easier to find it in every big city . The story of baklava began long long ago, as a matter of fact one version of the story claims that Baklava origins to the mighty Assyria...
